The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They banked enough surplus on Phillips to cover a lot of smaller sins. Spending an early pick on offensive lineman with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
