The Commanders cashed the board's mistake on Longerbeam: B. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Commanders did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to wide receiver, which was the need that mattered most. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The Longerbeam value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick49
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jihaad Campbell at slot 49. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick61
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
By-the-book stuff, Donovan Jackson at No. 61 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick81
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
The board had Quinshon Judkins higher than Round 3, Pick 17, and the running back fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick95
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba slipping to the 95th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick168
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
Value with a capital V on Bhayshul Tuten in the Round 5 slot, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Pick245
Rnd7
Robert Longerbeam
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Robert Longerbeam in pick 245, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
