Draft Grade — Commanders

FutureB+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Commanders for Marks: B-. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Woody Marks, the No. 193 name on the board, stolen at No. 239. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Baron reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
The Commanders clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick51
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in No. 51 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick61
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at the 61st overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick85
Rnd3
Kevin Winston Jr.
They jumped the gun on Kevin Winston Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick94
Rnd3
Tai Felton
Tai Felton at the 94th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick117
Rnd4
Nohl Williams
Nohl Williams at Round 4, Pick 15 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick122
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. in pick No. 122 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick128
Rnd4
Tyler Baron
They reached into another round for Tyler Baron, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick171
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They liked Dont'e Thornton Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 5 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick205
Rnd6
Jordan Hancock
A reach for Jordan Hancock in the 205th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick239
Rnd7
Woody Marks
You do not let a running back like Woody Marks reach slot 239 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick245
Rnd7
Jabbar Muhammad
Jabbar Muhammad at pick 245 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
