FutureA+
The Chiefs aced the weekend. Grade: A-. The one they had to fix is still broken. The Chiefs left quarterback untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.
They banked enough surplus on Brooks to cover a lot of smaller sins. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
In the end it comes back to Colston Loveland, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Colston Loveland
In slot 31 they get a security blanket over the middle at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with TreVeyon Henderson worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick133
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
The board had Emery Jones Jr. higher than No. 133, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick226
Rnd7
R.J. Mickens
R.J. Mickens slipping to Round 7, Pick 10 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick233
Rnd7
Ricky White III
Ricky White III is a better player than pick 233 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick251
Rnd7
Ja'Corey Brooks
Ja'Corey Brooks slid further than he should have, and the 251st overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick257
Rnd7
Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway at pick No. 257 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
