martyd312 DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bears let Nolen fall and pounced. Final grade: B. The Bears spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Walter Nolen, the No. 21 name on the board, in the Round 2 slot.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
Ashton Jeanty at slot 10 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick39
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to Round 2, Pick 7, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick41
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen in pick 41 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick72
Rnd3
Jaylin Noel
They let Jaylin Noel come to them and pounced at the 72nd overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick148
Rnd5
Logan Brown
Logan Brown at the 148th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick233
Rnd7
Carson Vinson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Carson Vinson in pick No. 233. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick240
Rnd7
Jermari Harris
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jermari Harris in No. 240. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
