FutureA
Good, not great, for the Giants: B. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Tyler Loop at pick No. 219 is 102 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In the 12th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34
Rnd2
Tetairoa McMillan
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 34 is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick44
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland at pick 44 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick65
Rnd3
Kaleb Johnson
The board fumbled Kaleb Johnson all the way to the Round 3 slot, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Pick76
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
They did well to land Carson Schwesinger in the 76th pick, just ahead of his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick99
Rnd3
Cam Skattebo
They took Cam Skattebo at par in Round 3, Pick 35, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick105
Rnd4
Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough at the Round 4 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at Round 5, Pick 16 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick219
Rnd7
Tyler Loop
They talked themselves into Tyler Loop at the 219th pick, and the board did not agree. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick246
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Isaac TeSlaa in No. 246. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
