Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB NeedB- TradesC FutureA-
Skattebo should have been long gone. The Seahawks pounced, and earned a B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Cam Skattebo got past him. The Seahawks do not have to explain a thing at the Round 4 slot.

Jackson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland in the 42nd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick50 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
Good price on Jonah Savaiinaea in pick 50, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick82 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
A reasonable price with a little left over, Mason Taylor in the Round 3 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick90 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
Nice patience on Andrew Mukuba, who had no business lasting to pick No. 90. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick92 Rnd3 Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in No. 92 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick105 Rnd4 Tai Felton
Nothing to complain about; Tai Felton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick124 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Steal is underselling it; Cam Skattebo at the 124th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick137 Rnd4 Mello Dotson
Mello Dotson at Round 4, Pick 35 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick145 Rnd5 Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough at the 145th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. It fills a real need, too.
Pick154 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
The board fumbled Malachi Moore all the way to the 154th overall pick, and they scooped it up. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick159 Rnd5 Andres Borregales
A tidy little value on Andres Borregales in pick 159, a step better than break-even. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick162 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Bhayshul Tuten at pick No. 162. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick172 Rnd5 Jack Nelson
No edge and no loss on Jack Nelson in slot 172; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick175 Rnd5 Kyle Williams
Fair-plus on Kyle Williams, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser in Round 6, Pick 10 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick190 Rnd6 Caleb Rogers
Caleb Rogers in No. 190 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick198 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
They paid sticker price for Jay Higgins in slot 198, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick207 Rnd6 Cam Jackson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cam Jackson well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick219 Rnd7 Chimere Dike
They did well to land Chimere Dike in pick 219, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick223 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
No drama and no debate, Carson Vinson went about where he belonged in the 223rd pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick234 Rnd7 Bilhal Kone
Bilhal Kone in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick246 Rnd7 Thomas Fidone II
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Thomas Fidone II. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick250 Rnd7 Jackson Hawes
A straight-up fair deal on Jackson Hawes at pick No. 250, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
