Vicious DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Browns kept it disciplined and banked a B. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Browns did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to cornerback, which was the need that mattered most. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Getting Warren where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In No. 2 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Tyler Warren for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick67
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at pick 67 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick94
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe in Round 3, Pick 30 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick104
Rnd4
Charles Grant
They let Charles Grant come to them and pounced at pick No. 104. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick179
Rnd6
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II at the 179th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick192
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed in slot 192 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick200
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at the 200th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick216
Rnd6
Ricky White III
Ricky White III at No. 216 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick255
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
They paid sticker price for Jackson Hawes in Round 7, Pick 39, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
