After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. No fireworks, but a solid B.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The Bell reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
