Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

ValueB

FutureD+
Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a B. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Bears' quarterback, full stop.
They banked enough surplus on Jones to cover a lot of smaller sins. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
If Bortolini pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
They took Caleb Williams at par in pick 1, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick13
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
In the 13th overall pick they get a seam-stretching tight end at fair value.
Pick16
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In No. 16 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick81
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock at slot 81 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick118
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
They liked Johnny Wilson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 118. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick151
Rnd5
Tanor Bortolini
They reached into another round for Tanor Bortolini, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick168
Rnd5
Tahj Washington
Value said wait; Tahj Washington in the 168th pick says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick203
Rnd6
Myles Murphy
Myles Murphy at Round 6, Pick 28 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick229
Rnd7
Trente Jones
Trente Jones in slot 229 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
