Draft Grade — Commanders

FutureB-
Williams should have been long gone. The Commanders pounced, and earned a B+. Call it larceny. Nohl Williams sat on the board until the 219th overall pick, and the Commanders did not need to be asked twice.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They are betting Garcia proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick45
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at pick 45 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jared Ivey
A conviction pick on Jared Ivey at the Round 3 slot that the board grades a round light. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick95
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
They barely believed it either: Zy Alexander still on the board at No. 95. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick105
Rnd4
Donovan Jackson
They robbed the room for Donovan Jackson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick117
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at Round 4, Pick 15 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick128
Rnd4
Jordan Phillips
The board fumbled Jordan Phillips all the way to the 128th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick151
Rnd5
Emery Jones Jr.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Emery Jones Jr. in pick No. 151, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick205
Rnd6
Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at the 205th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick219
Rnd7
Nohl Williams
They will replay Nohl Williams at the 219th pick for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick236
Rnd7
Jordan Hancock
Somehow Jordan Hancock was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 20, and they pounced on premier safety value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick248
Rnd7
Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne in pick No. 248 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick251
Rnd7
Kaden Prather
Kaden Prather at No. 251 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick257
Rnd7
Gino Garcia
Value said wait; Gino Garcia in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
