Draft Grade — Commanders

FutureC
The Commanders robbed the room for Edwards. Final grade: B+. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Commanders were there to profit. Donovan Edwards, the No. 184 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 7 slot.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The veteran additions, Laremy Tunsil chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
Prather has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. On the needs board they went 8 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In slot 31 they get a bendy edge with upside at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick69
Rnd3
Xavier Watts
Taking Xavier Watts in pick No. 69 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick77
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins at No. 77 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick106
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
They took Jared Wilson at par in the 106th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick121
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
By-the-book stuff, Darius Alexander at the 121st pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick128
Rnd4
Jalen Milroe
They will replay Jalen Milroe at the Round 4 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick133
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Andrew Mukuba in Round 4, Pick 31, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick157
Rnd5
Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. in pick 157 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick179
Rnd6
Nohl Williams
Nohl Williams at Round 6, Pick 3 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick192
Rnd6
Raheim Sanders
Somehow Raheim Sanders was still sitting there in the 192nd pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick205
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at pick No. 205 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick219
Rnd7
Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at the 219th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick235
Rnd7
Donovan Edwards
You do not let a running back like Donovan Edwards reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick236
Rnd7
Miles Frazier
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Miles Frazier. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick248
Rnd7
Chimere Dike
Circle this one: Chimere Dike at No. 248 is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick254
Rnd7
Kaden Prather
They went early on Kaden Prather in pick 254, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
