DeSkullz DRAFTING FOR THEPanthers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Panthers a B-. The Panthers clearly saw something nobody else did in Oluwafemi Oladejo, taking him 92 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
However the rest shakes out, Mafah at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it. They will answer for taking interior defensive lineman early while linebacker, offensive lineman and other spots went begging.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In pick 8 they get a disruptive interior force. Need was not the driver here.
Pick57
Rnd2
T.J. Sanders
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, T.J. Sanders adds an interior defensive lineman and leaves linebacker, offensive lineman and other spots untouched.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Good price on Jayden Higgins in slot 74, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick111
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Savion Williams in Round 4, Pick 9 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick114
Rnd4
Gunnar Helm
A tight end of that caliber at No. 114 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick140
Rnd5
Jacob Parrish
A tidy bit of business in the 140th overall pick, where Jacob Parrish graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick146
Rnd5
Oluwafemi Oladejo
They left a pile of value on the table to take Oluwafemi Oladejo this early at pick 146. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick163
Rnd5
Que Robinson
Que Robinson in the 163rd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick227
Rnd7
Phil Mafah
They will replay Phil Mafah at slot 227 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
