Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Commanders won the night they stopped Shough from sliding. Grade: B+.

The Commanders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Tyler Shough, the No. 136 name on the board, in the 205th overall pick.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Jones reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick45 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Malaki Starks at the 45th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick46 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
Fair-plus on Jihaad Campbell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick71 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins at pick No. 71 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick105 Rnd4 Sai'vion Jones
They reached into another round for Sai'vion Jones, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick120 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
Jordan Phillips at No. 120 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick138 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
A tidy bit of business in slot 138, where Jacob Parrish graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick151 Rnd5 Logan Brown
Logan Brown slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 13 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick154 Rnd5 Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson in the 154th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick184 Rnd6 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten in Round 6, Pick 8 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick192 Rnd6 Ajani Cornelius
The board fumbled Ajani Cornelius all the way to No. 192, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick200 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
You do not let a wide receiver like Dont'e Thornton Jr. reach slot 200 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick205 Rnd6 Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough at pick No. 205 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick236 Rnd7 Jordan Hancock
Jordan Hancock at the 236th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick248 Rnd7 Kaden Prather
Kaden Prather at the Round 7 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
