Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Commanders for Hancock: A-.

Somebody in the 244th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Commanders sat still while Jordan Hancock, the No. 199 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

They will need Prather to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.

Pick Analysis
Pick45 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jihaad Campbell in the 45th pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick110 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba in No. 110 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick117 Rnd4 Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel in the 117th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
They will replay Jared Wilson at pick No. 127 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick152 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. at pick 152 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick161 Rnd5 Logan Brown
The board had Logan Brown higher than slot 161, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick181 Rnd6 Nohl Williams
Nohl Williams in the Round 6 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick194 Rnd6 Ajani Cornelius
Taking Ajani Cornelius in Round 6, Pick 16 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick207 Rnd6 Dorian Strong
Steal is underselling it; Dorian Strong at slot 207 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick244 Rnd7 Jordan Hancock
Jordan Hancock in the 244th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick250 Rnd7 Jonas Sanker
Jonas Sanker at Round 7, Pick 32 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick257 Rnd7 Kaden Prather
Kaden Prather at the 257th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
