The Vikings did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Vikings were there to profit. A.J. Haulcy, the No. 49 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 82. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

They are betting Coogan proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
