Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Bengals let Dixon fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

Call it larceny. Johnny Dixon sat on the board until pick No. 208, and the Bengals did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Benson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In No. 18 they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick49 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
They paid sticker price for Braden Fiske in the 49th overall pick, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick80 Rnd3 Trey Benson
A conviction pick on Trey Benson at pick No. 80 that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick114 Rnd4 Renardo Green
Renardo Green at the 114th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick148 Rnd5 AJ Barner
AJ Barner at slot 148 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick193 Rnd6 Jha'Quan Jackson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jha'Quan Jackson at pick 193 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick208 Rnd6 Johnny Dixon
Johnny Dixon in Round 6, Pick 33 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick214 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
They barely believed it either: Jaylan Ford still on the board at the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick237 Rnd7 Rasheen Ali
Rasheen Ali in the Round 7 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
