The phones were a trap the Bengals kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

Reaching for Eichenberg left real value on the table behind him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
