Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B
ValueB

TradesA
FutureB-
The Commanders drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: B. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Turner at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. Spending an early pick on OLB-EDGE with tight end and interior defensive lineman open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
The Foster reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In slot 2 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Dallas Turner
They barely believed it either: Dallas Turner still on the board at the 36th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick41
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
A straight-up fair deal on Chris Braswell at the 41st pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick67
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in Round 3, Pick 3 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick101
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
Circle this one: Khyree Jackson at No. 101 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick103
Rnd4
Javon Foster
They liked Javon Foster enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 103. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick127
Rnd4
Javon Solomon
They bypassed pressing needs at tight end and interior defensive lineman to take Javon Solomon, an OLB-EDGE that was not the priority.
Pick138
Rnd5
Johnny Wilson
A slide stopped in pick 138, with Johnny Wilson worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick181
Rnd6
Isaac Guerendo
A clean, defensible pick in pick 181 with a little surplus value in Isaac Guerendo. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick220
Rnd6
Michael Barrett
They did well to land Michael Barrett in pick No. 220, just ahead of his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
