FutureA+
A solid, sensible weekend for the Dolphins: B. The rest of the league had time to spare on Malachi Lawrence; the Dolphins did not wait, grabbing him 35 spots ahead at the 111th pick. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Scott pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
They will answer for taking cornerback early while wide receiver, tight end and other spots went begging. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Colton Hood
Colton Hood at the Round 1 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick47
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman slipping to slot 47 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick87
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Keionte Scott while clear needs at wide receiver, tight end and other spots sat open.
Pick90
Rnd3
Jaeden Roberts
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jaeden Roberts. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick106
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
The board had cheaper options than Keylan Rutledge at the 106th overall pick, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick111
Rnd4
Malachi Lawrence
Value said wait; Malachi Lawrence in Round 4, Pick 11 says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jalen Farmer
Jalen Farmer at No. 149 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick227
Rnd7
Cole Payton
A reach on Cole Payton in the Round 7 slot; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick253
Rnd7
Nick Barrett
No drama and no debate, Nick Barrett went about where he belonged in the 253rd overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
