Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesD FutureA+
The phones sank the Dolphins this weekend: B-.

The Dolphins clearly saw something nobody else did in Trey Moore, taking him 59 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Landing Ponds that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Spending an early pick on safety with interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick43 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon at No. 43 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick59 Rnd2 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy in pick 59 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick75 Rnd3 D'Angelo Ponds
You do not let a cornerback like D'Angelo Ponds reach Round 3, Pick 11 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick87 Rnd3 Kamari Ramsey
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Kamari Ramsey adds a safety and leaves interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots untouched.
Pick90 Rnd3 Germie Bernard
Taking Germie Bernard in the 90th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jude Bowry
Jude Bowry in the 111th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Pick128 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
A reasonable price with a little left over, Keylan Rutledge in the 128th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick149 Rnd5 Trey Moore
Trey Moore at the 149th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick227 Rnd7 Cole Payton
Cole Payton at slot 227 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
