Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B
ValueA
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Commanders let Schwesinger fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Commanders were there to profit. Carson Schwesinger, the No. 87 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 207. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
They will need Burks to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In the Round 1 slot they get a load in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick61
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in Round 2, Pick 29 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick79
Rnd3
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton in slot 79 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick148
Rnd5
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo at pick 148 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick207
Rnd6
Carson Schwesinger
Somehow Carson Schwesinger was still sitting there in the 207th pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick238
Rnd7
Kaden Prather
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kaden Prather well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick250
Rnd7
Deion Burks
They reached a country mile for Deion Burks at No. 250, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
