Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B+
ValueA NeedB TradesA+ FutureC+
Grand theft in the Round 6 slot: the Commanders steal Fitzgerald and grade out a B+.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Ryan Fitzgerald got past him. The Commanders do not have to explain a thing at the Round 6 slot. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

Williams has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick40 Rnd2 Shavon Revel Jr.
Value with a capital V on Shavon Revel Jr. in pick 40, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick61 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Malaki Starks in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick103 Rnd4 Donovan Jackson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Donovan Jackson in pick No. 103. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick148 Rnd5 Danny Stutsman
Taking Danny Stutsman in Round 5, Pick 9 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick165 Rnd5 Devin Neal
Devin Neal at slot 165 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick181 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II in the 181st overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick207 Rnd6 Ryan Fitzgerald
Ryan Fitzgerald in the 207th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick238 Rnd7 Nohl Williams
A real head-scratcher, Nohl Williams in No. 238 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick250 Rnd7 Alex Mastromanno
They robbed the room for Alex Mastromanno here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
