Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Dolphins: B-.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Dolphins shredded theirs for Braelon Allen. He came off 31 spots early, and the room will hear about it.

However the rest shakes out, Robinson at that price is a win they earned. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick53 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
Chop Robinson in the 53rd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick76 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in the 76th pick is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick124 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
They reached a country mile for Braelon Allen at Round 4, Pick 24, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick158 Rnd5 Justin Rogers
They took Justin Rogers at par in pick 158, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick174 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Joe Milton III in slot 174. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick186 Rnd6 De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark at pick No. 186 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick199 Rnd6 Ethan Driskell
Ethan Driskell in the Round 6 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick242 Rnd7 BJ Mayes
Nice patience on BJ Mayes, who had no business lasting to slot 242. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
