Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall D
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Bengals cashed the board's mistake on Tampa: D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bengals shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

That Tampa pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Jer'Zhan Newton
In No. 18 they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27 Rnd1 Keon Coleman
In pick No. 27 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick49 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyler Guyton at Round 2, Pick 17. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick80 Rnd3 T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa in slot 80 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick115 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks slid further than he should have, and the Round 4 slot is lovely value for the safety. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick151 Rnd5 Dallin Holker
Nothing to complain about; Dallin Holker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick173 Rnd5 Cedric Johnson
They read the board right and Cedric Johnson was the payoff at pick No. 173. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick188 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
They paid sticker price for JD Bertrand in the 188th overall pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick196 Rnd6 Austin Stogner
A straight-up fair deal on Austin Stogner at pick 196, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee at No. 238 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick254 Rnd7 Phil Jurkovec
The board fumbled Phil Jurkovec all the way to Round 7, Pick 34, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
