Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B+
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureA
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Dolphins and Barton: B+.

You build a draft on nights like this. Lander Barton had no business being available in slot 224, and the Dolphins did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

They are betting Jefferson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Dolphins indulged a want in Winston Jr. while a need in edge rusher and tight end stayed open.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks in Round 2, Pick 1 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick48 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
They barely believed it either: Kenneth Grant still on the board at slot 48. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick94 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
Somehow Quinshon Judkins was still sitting there in No. 94, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick98 Rnd3 Dylan Fairchild
They let Dylan Fairchild come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick114 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
A want over a need in pick 114: Kevin Winston Jr. adds a safety while edge rusher and tight end keeps waiting.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Jake Majors at the 133rd pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Pick149 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
A slide stopped in pick No. 149, with Pat Bryant worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick154 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in the 154th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick177 Rnd6 Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier at pick 177 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick224 Rnd7 Lander Barton
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Lander Barton in slot 224, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick252 Rnd7 KJ Jefferson
KJ Jefferson at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
