FutureB-
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: D-. The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.
So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Getting Sainristil where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In slot 1 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
Rome Odunze in the 9th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick43
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Chop Robinson. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick75
Rnd3
Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie at No. 75 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick109
Rnd4
Mike Sainristil
Taking Mike Sainristil in pick No. 109 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick110
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter at pick 110 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick122
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg in the 122nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick146
Rnd5
Ben Sinnott
Good price on Ben Sinnott in Round 5, Pick 10, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
