The Browns lost the trade table, and the D tells the story. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Browns spent Round 7, Pick 39 on Barryn Sorrell, a name the board had a full 71 spots lower.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Paul Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The veteran additions, Devin Singletary chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
