JAGUAR1 DRAFTING FOR THEJaguars

Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Jaguars: B-. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Jaguars spent pick 115 on Drake Nugent, a name most had 33 spots down the list.
The Simpson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Byron Murphy II
Byron Murphy II in No. 17 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick49
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
They went early on T'Vondre Sweat in pick No. 49, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick79
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
They took Christian Mahogany at par in the 79th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick96
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
A straight-up fair deal on Dominick Puni at Round 3, Pick 33, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick114
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
No edge and no loss on Darius Robinson in slot 114; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick115
Rnd4
Drake Nugent
They reached into another round for Drake Nugent, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick116
Rnd4
James Williams
They talked themselves into James Williams at pick No. 116, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick155
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
A reach on Kitan Oladapo in the Round 5 slot; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick173
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
They robbed the room for Jaylin Simpson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick195
Rnd6
Christian Jones
No drama and no debate, Christian Jones went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 20. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jawhar Jordan
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jawhar Jordan. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick237
Rnd7
Dwight McGlothern
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dwight McGlothern well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
