The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on J.J. McCarthy, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.

They banked enough surplus on Pearsall to cover a lot of smaller sins. The phones were where this weekend was really won.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Tee Higgins deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
