Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA- FutureB-
Daniels is the Patriots' new face under center. Grade: B.

The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

However the rest shakes out, Trotter Jr. at that price is a win they earned. Every board in the league had Thomas lower, and that gap is the story. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In the 3rd overall pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick38 Rnd2 JC Latham
Somehow JC Latham was still sitting there in No. 38, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick68 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul in Round 3, Pick 4 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick103 Rnd4 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 103rd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick121 Rnd4 Jalen McMillan
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick137 Rnd5 Johnny Wilson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Johnny Wilson in slot 137. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick145 Rnd5 Jarrian Jones
Value with a capital V on Jarrian Jones in pick No. 145, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick146 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
By-the-book stuff, Luke McCaffrey at pick 146 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick180 Rnd6 Tip Reiman
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tip Reiman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick193 Rnd6 Isaiah Williams
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Isaiah Williams at slot 193. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick207 Rnd6 Nathan Thomas
A real head-scratcher, Nathan Thomas in pick 207 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick231 Rnd7 Bub Means
They paid a round early for Bub Means in the Round 7 slot, more than the board wanted. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
