Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
Daniels is the Patriots' new face under center. Grade: A-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.

That Burton pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jayden Daniels and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In the 6th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Quinyon Mitchell
Quinyon Mitchell in the 34th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick56 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Chris Braswell in pick 56. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick68 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in slot 68, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick87 Rnd3 Jermaine Burton
They barely believed it either: Jermaine Burton still on the board at No. 87. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick103 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
They jumped the gun on Leonard Taylor III, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick137 Rnd5 Jarrian Jones
No edge and no loss on Jarrian Jones in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick180 Rnd6 Jalyx Hunt
Jalyx Hunt in Round 6, Pick 5 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was not a hole anyone had circled.
Pick193 Rnd6 Dillon Johnson
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Dillon Johnson in No. 193, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick231 Rnd7 Nathan Thomas
Nathan Thomas at the 231st overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It fills a real need, too.
