Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Patriots a B.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Patriots would have aced it. Kedon Slovis at the 229th pick is 85 spots clear of where he belonged. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Mims falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In the 4th pick they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick27 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In slot 27 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34 Rnd2 Amarius Mims
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Amarius Mims at Round 2, Pick 2. It fills a real need, too.
Pick68 Rnd3 Spencer Rattler
Spencer Rattler in pick 68 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick90 Rnd3 Jaylen Wright
A quiet steal in pick No. 90: Jaylen Wright for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick104 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
They did well to land Leonard Taylor III in No. 104, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick136 Rnd4 Jarrian Jones
Jarrian Jones at No. 136 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick182 Rnd6 Jalyx Hunt
The board had Jalyx Hunt higher than the Round 6 slot, and the S-EDGE fell to them anyway. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
Pick229 Rnd7 Kedon Slovis
They talked themselves into Kedon Slovis at slot 229, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
