Draft Grade — Texans
Overall
B
ValueB-

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Texans, and a B to prove it. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Texans shredded theirs for Le'Veon Moss. He came off 22 spots early, and the room will hear about it. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Klare at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In pick 28 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Olaivavega Ioane. The roster fit checks out.
Pick59
Rnd2
Deontae Lawson
A tidy little value on Deontae Lawson in the 59th overall pick, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick69
Rnd3
Max Klare
Value with a capital V on Max Klare in slot 69, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Pick109
Rnd4
D'Angelo Ponds
Good price on D'Angelo Ponds in the 109th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick116
Rnd4
Bishop Fitzgerald
They read the board right and Bishop Fitzgerald was the payoff at No. 116. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick128
Rnd4
Logan Jones
Logan Jones in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick153
Rnd5
Le'Veon Moss
Value said wait; Le'Veon Moss in slot 153 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick165
Rnd5
Sawyer Robertson
Sawyer Robertson at pick 165 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick229
Rnd7
Riley Mahlman
Riley Mahlman at No. 229 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick243
Rnd7
Jaquaize Pettaway
Jaquaize Pettaway at Round 7, Pick 27 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick244
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
They took Jordan Hall at par in pick No. 244, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
