Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Jaguars a B.

The Jaguars torched the value chart for DeMonte Capehart, taking him 55 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.

The Barrett pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get an island corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick56 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
They read the board right and Xavier Worthy was the payoff at the 56th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick79 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
A reach on Sedrick Van Pran in slot 79; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick87 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Good price on Cooper Beebe in pick No. 87, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick96 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
They paid sticker price for Zak Zinter in No. 96, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick114 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
They liked Mohamed Kamara enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 114. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick116 Rnd4 James Williams
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for James Williams. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick155 Rnd5 Jaylen Wright
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylen Wright. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick195 Rnd6 Christian Jones
They paid a round early for Christian Jones in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick211 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett at No. 211 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick237 Rnd7 Brevyn Spann-Ford
A straight-up fair deal on Brevyn Spann-Ford at the 237th pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick245 Rnd7 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart in the 245th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
