More right than wrong for the Patriots, and a B- to prove it.

There is reaching, and then there is Princewill Umanmielen at No. 190. The Patriots jumped the board by 38 and dared it to prove them wrong.

Ramsey falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 KC Concepcion
In the 30th pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick62 Rnd2 Kamari Ramsey
Steal is underselling it; Kamari Ramsey at the 62nd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Blake Miller
They left a pile of value on the table to take Blake Miller this early at No. 94. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick125 Rnd4 Xavier Scott
Xavier Scott slid further than he should have, and slot 125 is lovely value for the cornerback. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick130 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
They took Keylan Rutledge at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick169 Rnd5 Eric McAlister
By-the-book stuff, Eric McAlister at pick No. 169 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick190 Rnd6 Princewill Umanmielen
They reached into another round for Princewill Umanmielen, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick201 Rnd6 Desmond Reid
Desmond Reid in No. 201 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick208 Rnd6 Robert Spears-Jennings
Robert Spears-Jennings in the 208th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick210 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
A reasonable price with a little left over, Trey Zuhn III in the Round 6 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick246 Rnd7 Shamar Easter
Good price on Shamar Easter in Round 7, Pick 30, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
