Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Jets drew a line under the quarterback search with Mendoza: B.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Jets committed. Fernando Mendoza is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

That Haulcy pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Reaching for White left real value on the table behind him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In pick 2 they get a long-term answer under center. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick16 Rnd1 Jordyn Tyson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordyn Tyson in the 16th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick33 Rnd2 CJ Allen
CJ Allen at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick44 Rnd2 Zion Young
They went early on Zion Young in pick No. 44, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick103 Rnd4 A.J. Haulcy
Circle this one: A.J. Haulcy at slot 103 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick175 Rnd5 Earnest Greene III
They did well to land Earnest Greene III in No. 175, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick179 Rnd5 Taylen Green
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Taylen Green at the 179th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick193 Rnd6 Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon at Round 6, Pick 13 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jordan White
Jordan White at Round 6, Pick 27 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick211 Rnd6 Brett Norfleet
They paid up for Brett Norfleet at the 211th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick218 Rnd7 Brandon Inniss
They took Brandon Inniss at par in slot 218, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick242 Rnd7 Gunner Stockton
They barely believed it either: Gunner Stockton still on the board at the Round 7 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
