Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
A franchise passer in Simpson headlines a B weekend for the Browns.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Browns committed. Ty Simpson is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

They will need Deal to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. However the rest shakes out, Moss at that price is a win they earned.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Ty Simpson
In slot 6 they get a passer to set the clock by, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick24 Rnd1 Denzel Boston
In pick 24 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
A slide stopped in pick No. 39, with Caleb Banks worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick70 Rnd3 Will Lee III
Will Lee III slid further than he should have, and No. 70 is lovely value for the cornerback. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick107 Rnd4 Kaytron Allen
Kaytron Allen is a better player than the 107th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick139 Rnd5 Max Iheanachor
No edge and no loss on Max Iheanachor in the 139th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick144 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell at Round 5, Pick 6 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick147 Rnd5 Connor Tollison
By-the-book stuff, Connor Tollison at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick204 Rnd6 Miller Moss
They robbed the room for Miller Moss here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick248 Rnd7 Markis Deal
They reached a country mile for Markis Deal at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
