The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Bears reached some 40 spots for Jacob Rodriguez, and value like that does not grow back.

The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
