Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
Daniels is the Patriots' new face under center. Grade: A.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A.

Landing Kinchens that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

It is not that Smith is a bad player; it is that the Patriots had louder needs to answer first.

Bottom line, with Jayden Daniels leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In the 8th overall pick they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
They did well to land Troy Fautanu in the 34th pick, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick57 Rnd2 Kamari Lassiter
Kamari Lassiter at Round 2, Pick 25 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick68 Rnd3 Kamren Kinchens
Steal is underselling it; Kamren Kinchens at pick 68 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
They barely believed it either: Payton Wilson still on the board at slot 88. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick91 Rnd3 Maason Smith
A want over a need in pick No. 91: Maason Smith adds a DT-EDGE while edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick104 Rnd4 Spencer Rattler
Spencer Rattler at No. 104 is money in the bank, a quarterback taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick136 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick182 Rnd6 Javon Baker
A straight-up fair deal on Javon Baker at Round 6, Pick 7, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick229 Rnd7 Isaiah Neyor
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Isaiah Neyor at the 229th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
