Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB
The Jaguars kept it disciplined and banked a B.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Jaguars took Darius Robinson a full 23 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. The Legette pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick39 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Xavier Legette worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick47 Rnd2 Byron Murphy II
Byron Murphy II at the 47th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick48 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
They went early on T'Vondre Sweat in the 48th overall pick, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick79 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at slot 79 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick80 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
The board had cheaper options than Sedrick Van Pran at Round 3, Pick 16, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick96 Rnd3 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in No. 96 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick114 Rnd4 James Williams
They paid a round early for James Williams in No. 114, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
Pick116 Rnd4 Cam Hart
Cam Hart at slot 116 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick155 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
They let Jaylin Simpson come to them and pounced at pick No. 155. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick185 Rnd6 Christian Jones
Christian Jones in the 185th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick195 Rnd6 Jaylen Harrell
Jaylen Harrell at the 195th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick211 Rnd6 Brevyn Spann-Ford
By-the-book stuff, Brevyn Spann-Ford at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick237 Rnd7 Carson Steele
Carson Steele at Round 7, Pick 17 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A need, and now a little less of one.
