Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Jaguars did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

Nobody had DeMonte Capehart this high, and it is not close. The Jaguars reached 28 spots to get him at the 237th overall pick. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. With linebacker, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on edge rusher is the choice that costs them.

On value alone, Robinson makes the weekend a net positive.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 JC Latham
In the 17th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick48 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
Chop Robinson at pick No. 48 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick79 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
They jumped the gun on Sedrick Van Pran, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick96 Rnd3 Darius Robinson
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went edge rusher with Darius Robinson while clear needs at linebacker, quarterback and other spots sat open.
Pick114 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick116 Rnd4 Cam Hart
Cam Hart at Round 4, Pick 16 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick155 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson is a better player than the Round 5 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick195 Rnd6 De'Corian Clark
A straight-up fair deal on De'Corian Clark at slot 195, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick211 Rnd6 Matthew Jones
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Matthew Jones. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick237 Rnd7 DeMonte Capehart
A wild overpay on DeMonte Capehart in the 237th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
