Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Jaguars turned the phones into found money: B+.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with DeMonte Capehart at the Round 7 slot, a reach of 64 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They will answer for taking edge rusher early while quarterback, running back and other spots went begging.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick36 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
A reasonable price with a little left over, Xavier Legette in pick 36. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
No drama and no debate, Chop Robinson went about where he belonged in the 40th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick48 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
A straight-up fair deal on Jackson Powers-Johnson at slot 48, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick79 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in Round 3, Pick 15 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick96 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany slipping to the 96th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick114 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
A want over a need in the Round 4 slot: Darius Robinson adds an edge rusher while quarterback, running back and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick116 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams in the 116th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick155 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
They paid sticker price for Jaylin Simpson in No. 155, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick195 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett at pick 195 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick211 Rnd6 Christian Jones
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick237 Rnd7 DeMonte Capehart
A big swing on DeMonte Capehart at pick No. 237, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
