JAGUAR1 DRAFTING FOR THEJaguars

Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall

Good, not great, for the Jaguars: B-. The Jaguars did not so much draft Carson Steele as overpay for him, 51 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Rice pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
T'Vondre Sweat
In pick 22 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick54
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
They paid sticker price for Cooper Beebe in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick86
Rnd3
Zach Frazier
No edge and no loss on Zach Frazier in the 86th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick96
Rnd3
Cam Hart
A reach on Cam Hart in the 96th pick; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick113
Rnd4
Tate Ratledge
No drama and no debate, Tate Ratledge went about where he belonged in slot 113. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick122
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 22, where Brenden Rice graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick159
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore in the 159th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick200
Rnd6
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jordan Jefferson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jordan Jefferson. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick243
Rnd7
Carson Steele
They talked themselves into Carson Steele at Round 7, Pick 23, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
