The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. However the rest shakes out, Simpson at that price is a win they earned.

Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Johnson lower, and that gap is the story.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
