Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B+
ValueA- NeedB TradesA- FutureB-
Williams is the Patriots' new face under center. Grade: B+.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

Landing Davis that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Brock Bowers
They will replay Brock Bowers at pick No. 34 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick37 Rnd2 Jer'Zhan Newton
Jer'Zhan Newton in the 37th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick88 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
Nothing to complain about; Roman Wilson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick91 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
No edge and no loss on Sedrick Van Pran in No. 91; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick115 Rnd4 Gabriel Murphy
You do not let an edge rusher like Gabriel Murphy reach slot 115 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick139 Rnd5 Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at the 139th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick182 Rnd6 LaDarius Henderson
Taking LaDarius Henderson in pick 182 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick224 Rnd7 Isaiah Neyor
Isaiah Neyor at No. 224 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick232 Rnd7 Isaiah Davis
Circle this one: Isaiah Davis at pick No. 232 is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
