Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesC+ FutureA+
The Patriots drew a line under the quarterback search with Daniels: B.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the Slovis reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

That McClellan pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In No. 8 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at pick No. 34 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick43 Rnd2 Patrick Paul
No drama and no debate, Patrick Paul went about where he belonged in the 43rd overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick88 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson at the 88th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick91 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Michael Hall Jr.. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick115 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
They took Sataoa Laumea at par in pick 115, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick139 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick182 Rnd6 Andrew Raym
Andrew Raym in slot 182 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Pick224 Rnd7 Kedon Slovis
A reach on Kedon Slovis in the Round 7 slot; the board had better options right there. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan at Round 7, Pick 12 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
