The rest of the league will want that one back. Tyrice Knight tumbling to the Patriots in Round 6, Pick 7 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.

They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.

It is not that Smith is a bad player; it is that the Patriots had louder needs to answer first. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In the end it comes back to Jayden Daniels, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
