Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB+
The Patriots fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Patriots should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

Spending an early pick on DT-EDGE with tight end open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Barton.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In the 27th overall pick they get a building block for the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick35 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
They did well to land Tyler Nubin in No. 35, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick37 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chop Robinson. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick66 Rnd3 Graham Barton
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Graham Barton in the 66th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick69 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson in pick No. 69 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick78 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Roman Wilson at slot 78, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick81 Rnd3 Maason Smith
A surprising call. With tight end still to address, they spent Round 3, Pick 17 on Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE they were not short of.
Pick91 Rnd3 Spencer Rattler
No edge and no loss on Spencer Rattler in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick98 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at the 98th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick100 Rnd3 Leonard Taylor III
A conviction pick on Leonard Taylor III at pick No. 100 that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick102 Rnd4 Marist Liufau
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Marist Liufau while clear needs at tight end sat open.
Pick115 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea in pick 115 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick141 Rnd5 Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at No. 141 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick146 Rnd5 Braelon Allen
They went early on Braelon Allen in slot 146, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
Pick224 Rnd7 Isaiah Neyor
Good price on Isaiah Neyor in the 224th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick232 Rnd7 Kedon Slovis
The board had cheaper options than Kedon Slovis at the 232nd overall pick, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
