Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Patriots, and a B- to prove it.

There is a lot to like until you notice edge rusher is still a hole. The Patriots never got to the one that mattered most.

They banked enough surplus on Fisher to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Jefferson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In pick 3 they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 T.J. Tampa
They went early on T.J. Tampa in Round 2, Pick 2, and the value did not follow. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick68 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at the 68th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick115 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher slid further than he should have, and the 115th pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
Pick139 Rnd5 Javon Foster
Good price on Javon Foster in pick No. 139, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick151 Rnd5 Kedon Slovis
Kedon Slovis at No. 151 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick182 Rnd6 Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at the Round 6 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick224 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
Nothing to complain about; De'Corian Clark went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
